Features – ShoreTel 13
ShoreTel 13 is now shipping to new customers and will be available for existing customers as a dot release in the near future. There are a lot of exciting updates and enhancements.
What’s new in ShoreTel 13?
My favorite news coming with 13 is IM becoming a standard feature. Until now in order for IM to work users needed a Professional or higher client license for this feature at $80 per license. In order to utilize IM you will still need to deploy an IM server on the back end, either ShoreTel Conference Bridge or Microsoft Lync. For larger companies with Lync servers already deployed, there is no additional cost for this great feature. For everyone else, a list price of $2995 is all you need to add the conference bridge that will handle the IM back-end. Audio and Web licenses can be added to the conference bridge for $1500 per bundle of 10 ports for each.
SIP Trunking is the biggest new enhancement system wide. SIP trunks now offer full feature parity with PRI Trunks including silent monitoring, call recording and some other features that didn’t work with SIP Trunks in the past.
Interoperability with Lifesize video endpoints is also another great feature for clients wanting video as part of their UC solution.
ShoreTel is really listening to their dealers and users and is putting the R&D dollars in the right place. These are some great new enhancements and I’ve gotten a peek at what’s coming in 14 and I’m really excited.
